1966
On July 25th, 1966, Cumberland Heights opened its doors on our 177-acre River Road campus with 3 patients.

1975
Cumberland Heights opens a women’s program and begins admitting women affected by addiction.

1978
Recognizing addiction as a family disease, Cumberland Heights launches a family program.

1985
Cumberland Heights opens an adolescent treatment program for Girls and Boys.

1987
Our first Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) opens in Nashville, TN.

1996
The inaugural Concert for Cumberland Heights was held. Across the next 20 years, this signature event will raise $3 million dollars for adolescent and young adult programs and scholarships at Cumberland Heights.

2006
Cumberland Heights kicks off its 40th anniversary celebration with the groundbreaking of two new campus additions: the 24,000 sq ft Hazel Hawkins Martin Center and the 40,000 sq ft Frist Family Life Center.

2009
Still Waters, our first 12-Step Immersion program for men opens in Lobelville, TN.

2015
Still Waters for Women opens in Pegram, TN.

2016
Our 10th Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) opens on Music Row in Nashville, TN.

2018
Cumberland Heights establishes our Recovery Care Advocate (RCA) program, designed to support every patient after discharge from our programs.

2019
Recognizing the need to better understand how to improve our programs, communicate with external stakeholders, and better inform families making treatment decisions; our Research Institute is established.

2020
ARCH Academy, a new reimagined program for adolescent boys, opens on 67 beautiful acres in Kingston Springs, TN

Early 2024
Cumberland Heights breaks ground on our new Recovery in Community Campaign. That campaign will ultimately lead to the construction of approximately 40,000 new sq ft of residential rooms and clinical multi-use space.

Late 2024
Recognizing the need to support those in safety sensitive occupations, Cumberland Heights relaunches a Professionals Program, designed to support professionals (e.g., lawyers, doctors, nurses, pilots, etc.).

2025
ARCH Academy - Ridgeview, a program for adolescent girls, opens on 10 acres in Pegram, TN.
