Overview:

Clients present for substance use treatment with numerous differences that impact the experience of treatment. Contextual differences, including racial/ethnic identity are connected to treatment outcomes, and racial disparities in substance use treatment outcomes are prevalent (Mennis & Stahler, 2016; Palmer et al., 2009). Most evidence-based treatments have not been culturally adapted (Banks et al., 2023). This presentation will review racial and ethnic disparities that are prevalent in SUD treatment. This presentation will educate participants on culturally responsive approaches to treatment (Banks et al., 2023), and on assessing client cultural paradigms social identity profiles.
