Recovery capital refers to the internal and external resources an individual possesses to initiate and sustain recovery from addiction. It encompasses various dimensions, including human capital (personal strengths, skills, and knowledge), social capital (supportive relationships and networks), cultural capital (shared values and beliefs that promote recovery), financial capital (resources to meet basic needs and access treatment), and community capital (availability of recovery-supportive environments and services). By understanding and leveraging recovery capital, individuals can increase their chances of achieving and maintaining long-term recovery.
