In concurrence with the 25th annual National Recovery Month, Cumberland Heights has released “Committing to Treatment,”  the newest segment in its popular YouTube series.

“Committing to Treatment” supports this year’s Recovery Month theme “Join the Voices for Recovery: Speak Up, Reach Out” by featuring patients and staff speaking up about their experiences with this disease.

“23.1 million Americans needed treatment for addiction in 2012, and only 10 percent of them sought treatment for this debilitating disease,” said Jim Moore, CEO at Cumberland Heights. “We hope an informed dialogue initiated by the recovery community will help breakdown stigmas associated with this disease and encourage people suffering from addiction to seek help.”

National Recovery Month’s purpose is to spread the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover.

Cumberland Heights’ ongoing YouTube series, launched in July 2014, promotes recovery throughout the year with candidly shot informative videos including   “Women in Rehab: A Courageous Choice,” a segment highlighting challenges for women seeking treatment, and “Drug & Alcohol Detox: A Step Toward Life,” an honest look at detox as a step in the recovery process.

Events associated with the observance of National Recovery Month include charity runs, film screenings, community fairs, and a host of other celebrations. A full list of events across the United State can be found here.
