Compassion is not just a feeling, it is a doing.

“Compassion is not just a feeling, it is a doing. And our reading from Mark reminds us that compassion is inherent to discipleship. Compassion is a requirement, even more than that it is an urge. It hits us in the gut and sends us into motion for the sake of others, for the care of others. This gut feeling of compassion causes us to go outside of ourselves to serve others. It will not go away unless we let it go into the places and spaces that need it, and need it desperately.”

Scripture text is Mark 6: 30-56
