What we gain with a spiritual connection is not an escape from the world, not a break from reality, but a sense, a conviction, that God’s grace, the promises of recovery, have already intruded into and transformed our worlds. Nothing; not work, not school, not our relationship will ever be the same again. This is why we are not event people and instead we are people on journey. We are people in process because we are transformed and transforming. Recovery isn’t an event that we finish once we leave treatment – it’s a way of life. Recovery is a way of life that allows God to continue to reveal more and more to us as we continue to grow in our transformation.
And nothing will ever be the same again. Thanks be to God.
