Dr. John Woods serves as the Assistant Medical Director at Cumberland Heights, bringing over a decade of experience in addiction medicine. He initially worked part-time at Cumberland Heights from 2014 to 2019 before returning in a full-time capacity in 2022. Board-certified in addiction medicine with a background in internal medicine, Dr. Woods has held leadership roles in the field, including serving as the Director of the Center for Addiction Science at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and Program Director for UT’s Addiction Medicine Fellowship.

His passion for addiction treatment stems from his own personal experience with recovery, which drives his commitment to helping others find healing. Outside of his work, Dr. Woods enjoys spending time with his family. He is happily married with three grown children and values the moments he shares with them when he’s not dedicated to his mission of transforming lives through recovery.
